This painting titled ‘The High Fall’ (pictured on the right of the photo) sold for a high £66,000 at Gildings Auctioneers in Market Harborough this week.
The 1943 landscape by English painter, designer and war artist John Piper (1903-92), attracted great pre-sale interest from international dealers and private collectors from throughout the UK and also America. It had been estimated at £40,000 - £60,000.
