This painting titled '˜The High Fall' (pictured on the right of the photo) sold for a high £66,000 at Gildings Auctioneers in Market Harborough this week.

The 1943 landscape by English painter, designer and war artist John Piper (1903-92), attracted great pre-sale

The painting was the star of a Leicestershire man’s art collection. In total 53 works, amassed by the collector over a lifetime, sold for more than £91,000.
