The Leicester Riders basketball team will continue to work with a local opticians, it has been confirmed.
The team’s partnership with Edmonds and Slatter Opticians, which has practices in Blaby, Glenfield and Lutterworth, will continue for the 2015/2016 season.
Ian Davidson, commercial manager for the Riders, said: “Edmonds and Slatter are the official opticians for the Leicester Riders and the quality of optical care given to the players has been second to none and helped with the recent success of the club.
“We welcome staff from Edmonds and Slatter to our fixtures and believe that our partnership has genuine benefits for both parties.”
The Riders formed the partnership with the opticians in March last year. The relationship saw players receive eye care from the company, while fans have also been able to access discounted eye care.
After winning the Optical Assistant Team of the Year award at the 2015 Opticians Awards earlier this year, the company have now been selected as finalists in this year’s Association of Optometry Awards, which recognises the charitable fundraising work they participate in throughout the year.
A team from Edmonds and Slatter attended the Opticians Awards ceremony in Birmingham in the spring.
Speaking afterwards, partner Tim Cole said: “The category reflects the importance of the reception and support staff in our practices.”
He added: “You cannot run a successful practice with optometrists and dispensing opticians alone. The award shows that we have outstanding teamwork, customer service and the ability to make all our patients feel welcome and cared for.”
