Customers of a Harborough opticians helped to raise a spec-tacular amount of money for charity.
Specsavers in St Mary’s Place planned plenty of activities to raise money for Red Nose Day on Friday, March 13, and visitors to the store gave generously, helping to raise more than £1,500.
The team’s week of fundraising activities included an “epic strut” around the town and through the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket where optical assistant Chris Crowter ditched his uniform in favour of denim shorts and skyscraper heels.
Chris also joined other male colleagues, dressed in tights and tutus for a special sponsored Big Boys Ballet performance at the Market Harborough Dance Studio.
The week finished with a fundraising day using a photo booth in store on Red Nose Day.
The town’s store’s director Barry Henning said: “We all had a great time raising funds for Comic Relief, especially helping Chris do his ‘epic strut’ which has now had almost 900,000 views online!
“The amount of money we’ve raised has made us all feel epic and most importantly, we really want to thank everyone who donated.”
