LIBRARIES across the Harborough district will be changing their opening hours from Monday because of cutbacks in county council funding.
The changes will affect libraries in Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Broughton Astley, Fleckney, Kibworth and Great Glen.
Leicestershire County Council said that no redundancies across the county have been made as part of the changes.
In a statement, it said: “No members of staff within the county were made redundant as part of the library opening hours changes. This was achieved through vacancy management for a period of time, a number of staff taking the opportunity to retire from the service, and slight changes to the contracts of some members of staff, which was kept to a minimum.”
At the moment Harborough Library is open until 8pm on three evenings a week but from Monday that will be reduced to two evenings and only until 7pm. The new opening hours will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 9.30am to 7pm, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 5pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
Lutterworth Library’s new opening hours will be Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 5pm, Tuesdays from 9.30am to 7pm, Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, and closed on Wednesdays.
Broughton Astley Library will be open from 9.30am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9.30am to 7pm on Thursdays, from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays, and closed on Wednesdays.
Fleckney Library will be open from 2 to 7pm on Mondays, 2 to 5pm on Thursdays, 9am to 1pm on Fridays, 10am to 1pm on Saturdays, and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Kibworth Library will be open on Mondays from 2 to 7pm, Wednesdays from 2 to 5pm, Fridays from 9am to 1pm and 2 to 5pm, Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, and closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Great Glen Library will be open from 2 to 5pm on Mondays, 2 to 7pm on Tuesdays, 10am to midday on Thursdays, 10am to 1pm on Saturdays, and closed on Wednesdays and Fridays.
