A ramshackle agricultural site in a picturesque village can be demolished and replaced by seven new homes, Harborough district planners have ruled.
Councillor Stephen Bilbie said many local villages were failing to provide more affordable homes for younger people. “We’re desperate to have these smaller builds” he said
The site is at Stone Cottage Farm in Thorpe Langton.
Tuesday night’s District Council Planning Committee unanimously approved the scheme, after hearing that a majority of Thorpe Langton villagers also supported it.
Committee chairman Christopher Holyoak said he felt, on balance, the plan was good for the village.
