The former site of a bank in Kibworth’s High Street has been turned into a new barber’s shop.
The Striped Pole opened last week at 13 High Street in Kibworth Beauchamp, the former home of a HSBC branch.
The bank, which had been based in the village for 50 years, closed in November 2012 despite a campaign and petition by residents to keep it open.
In August 2013 the site was taken on by lettings and property management firm Harcourt Estates but that business was acquired by the Connells property group in January, leaving the unit vacant.
And now the site has been given a new lease of live by barber Dean Lewis.
He said: “The Striped Pole is a new and exciting barber shop in the centre of Kibworth, specialising in men’s hairstyling and shaving.
“It is a traditional barber’s shop where there is conversation about politics, cars, sports and family, and comment on current events.
“In between the banter, jokes are told and laughs are had. And everyone is involved; the barbers, customers getting their hair cut, and the customers waiting.
“We offer clients an easy-going relaxed atmosphere alongside quality hair cuts and wet shaves for an affordable price.”
Mr Lewis said the property has undergone a transformation from an office to a stylish and comfortable traditional barber shop.
