The Moko hair salon in Station Street, Kibworth, closed its doors for the final time on Christmas Eve after 12 years in the village.
Moko’s owner, Anthony Young, grew up in Kibworth and began his hairdressing career under the tutorage of another former Kibworth salon owner, Andrew Minarik.
Mr Young has gone on to great things in the industry and as well as pursuing other business interests, will be concentrating on Moko’s flagship salon in Church Street, Market Harborough, which has five floors of hair and beauty services and a highly-trained team of more than 20 staff.
Mr Young said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed running Moko in Kibworth and have met some incredible people over the years, to who I would like to thank for their ongoing loyalty and support.”
However, Kibworth residents need not worry, as a new salon team are opening in the village, at 5-7 Station Street, very soon.
New Year’s Eve will see the launch of O’Hair & Beauty.
A spokesman for O’Hair & Beauty said: “It will be an entirely new type of salon experience and concept, offering standards of client care and skill level that simply cannot be matched locally.
“O’Hair & Beauty will be working in partnership with revolutionary hair care company O’right and skincare range Thalgo, and together we are looking forward to welcoming guests old and new.”
Derek Vaz will continue to see his clients at Kibworth and is now working for O’Hair & Beauty.
Mr Young added: “I could not be happier with the incoming team from O’Hair & Beauty and our in-house senior beautician Rachel Craston.
“I wish them all the success of the future and look forward to working along side them.”
