Man suffers broken jaw after attack outside a pub in Scraptoft

A man in his 60s suffered a broken jaw after he was attacked outside a pub.

The victim was rushed to hospital after he was punched by a man outside the White House pub in Scraptoft Lane, Scraptoft.

Police are now urgently appealing for information about the assault.

Officers were called to a report of a fight outside the pub at 7.15pm on Friday November 22.

They found the victim had suffered serious facial injuries and severe shock after a violent row broke out.

He was treated in hospital and has since been released.

Police believe trouble flared after an argument between the victim and a group of eight to 12 men and women who had earlier attended a funeral.

PC Nabeel Ayub is urging anyone with any information about the shocking incident to contact police.

“The victim sustained some nasty injuries, including a broken jaw, and is receiving ongoing treatment for his injuries.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch,” said PC Ayub.

“Did you see the events leading up to it? Did you witness the assault? Do you know the person responsible?

“Please contact police with any information you have.”
