Police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Market Harborough in connection with a robbery in January in the town.

The arrest is linked to a robbery in broad daylight on Friday, January 15, on a path between Symington Rec and Mill Hill Road.

A woman, aged 53, was struck from behind and her purse was stolen. Her male attacker then ran off across Symington Rec towards St Mary’s Road.

The purse was later found by a member of the public - although police are not saying where it was discovered.

The purse was handed on to a police forensics team to see whether it held evidence linked to the robbery.

The man arrested by local police has since been released on police bail.
