Representatives from Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) have been visiting volunteers to thanks them for their help in raising more than £3,280,000 for air ambulances last year.
The money was raised between DLRAA, Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and the Children’s Air Ambulance, which are operated by the same charity.
Volunteers managed to raise the amount through fundraising, retail volunteering and helping out at events.
Volunteer Peter Corbett said: “Volunteering for Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance is really important. They save lives every single day, so it really gives you a great feeling of worth, knowing you’re part of the lifesaving team and contributing to what they do. They also receive no government funding, relying on their volunteers and local communities to help them raise the £1,700 they need for each mission – so you know that you really are making a difference.”
