The St Mary’s Road shop hosted the pilot Learn to Play Day five years ago – and it has now become a national event.

The event, on Saturday, March 12, is organised by Music for All, the charity of the music industry, in partnership with the Musicians Union and the Arts Council and is aimed at people of all ages.

There will be lessons available on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, drums, saxophone, clarinet and flute. In addition to this are special workshops on using effects pedals, blues guitar, rock guitar shredding and Latin bongo techniques.

Matt Hankins, of MH Music, said: “The aim is to ensure everyone taking part will have a chance to play something before they leave and there will be promotions to get money off buying equipment, and special offers on further lessons.”

Bookings are recommended but MH Music say they will try to make room for all visitors on the day. Contact 01858 463144 or visit www.mhmusic.co.uk to see more details. For further information see www.learntoplayday.com.
