A grandfather has spoken of his relief after his grandson s killer was jailed for life.

Nicholas Wright (18), a Royal Navy junior rating from Leicester, went missing in December 1997 after his first week at sea.

Mr Wright, who played cricket for Cold Ashby and bowls for Harborough s Dainite club, became the subject of a BBC TV appeal aimed at finding missing people.

His body was found two years later in a country lane in Hampshire.

At Winchester Crown Court last week, Royal Navy petty officer Allan Grimson (42), of Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to murdering Nicholas Wright and 20-year-old barman Sion Jenkins from Berkshire.

Mr Wright s grandfather Peter, of Cold Ashby, said: We are just pleased that it is all over.

The judge said Grimson was a serial killer in nature if not by number.

He also recommended that Grimson did not come out of prison again.
