A horsebox rolled over in a freak accident on a busy roundabout on the A6 in South Leicestershire – but luckily it was empty.

The 3.5-tonne vehicle overturned on the Glen Gorse roundabout at Oadby at about 8.30am on Saturday (August 22).

The incident was caused by mechanical failure, said Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

“No persons or animals trapped.

“Horsebox was empty,” said the fire service.

Firefighters using one appliance from Wigston were at the scene for about half an hour.

One lane of the A6 was closed for a while as the accident was dealt with before the road was re-opened by police.
