An elderly victim’s Christmas presents were stolen when a house was burgled in a Harborough district home.

The incident happened when burglars broke into a house in Deane Gate Drive in Houghton-on-the-Hill between 1.30pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday, November 27.

Access was gained through the front door and a Christmas-wrapped box of food and a Santa sack of food were taken.

Police only released the information last Thursday.

DC 4433 Melanie Fisher, who is investigating the incident, said: “Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the stated times?

“A black Volkswagen car was seen in the area around the time of the burglary and, if you have any information about the car, or if you were the driver, please come forward so we can eliminate you from our enquiries.”

Anyone with information about the crime can call the police 101 number, follow the instructions to leave a message for the officer and, when prompted, key in the officer’s identification number 4433. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
