Market Harborough Sea Cadets, Training Ship Fernie, reached another significant milestone recently by being formally recognised and affiliated by its parent organisation, the Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC).

To mark the grand occasion earlier this month, the unit was awarded and can now proudly wear cap tallies bearing the unit name, TS Fernie SCC.

Pictured above are founding members, staff, the unit management team and the TS Fernie sea cadets.

The group, founded in July 2013, was well on its way to being affiliated with the MSSC after a successful Royal Naval parade and inspection held last June and July. Last year also saw them hold a bag-packing at the Sainsbury’s store in Harborough and organise a charity coffee morning at Harborough Theatre.

The sea cadets meet at Yeomanry Court in town, off Coventry Road.
