Harborough mum is going back to Greece to help refugees

This time she hopes to help with the growing humanitarian crisis on the Greece / Macedonia border.

And Emma (43), a self-employed mum of three, says she is returning because she is “deeply ashamed of the response to the crisis from the EU and the UK Government”.

Emma said: “Since returning from Lesvos, I have kept myself informed regarding the refugee crisis. Unfortunately, the plight of refugees has worsened considerably since the start of 2016.

“These people fled war and famine, they deserve our compassion, support and help. Instead they are stranded in makeshift camps.

“Their future is uncertain and their current living conditions are inhumane. It’s all hands on deck out there and I just want to help.”

On her last, self-funded trip to Lesvos, Emma raised £4,000 to help refugees. She has raised £1,000 so far for her next trip.

As part of her latest fundraising, Emma and her aunt Angela Gilchrist have an art auction initiative.
