Businesses in the Harborough area are being invited to attend a free networking event focused on securing work and supply contracts for public sector construction projects.

The Meet the Buyer event, running at the iCon Environmental Innovation Centre in Eastern Way, Daventry, from 9am to 1pm this Thursday, November 27, offers firms a chance find out about upcoming work opportunities as well as promote their business to major contractors.

It is being hosted by building contractors Jeakins Weir, Wates, Morgan Sindall, and Clegg Construction, who are all looking to attract new supply chain partners for their work on the EMPA II (East Midlands Property Alliance) Construction Framework.

Cllr Chris Millar, leader of Daventry Council, which is supporting the event, said: “There is major investment in Daventry and the rest of Northamptonshire at the moment and I would urge firms to take advantage of this event, which offers them a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the key contractors, find out about the exciting development projects coming up, and generate business opportunities.”

Alan Coole, head of service at EMPA, said: “This Meet the Buyer event will enable businesses to meet the four EMPA II framework contractor partners and potentially win sub-contracted work from them.

“November 27 has to be on the diary of anyone involved in building in Northamptonshire that wants public sector work.”
