Beavers have enjoyed making a bug hotel to go in Welland Park

Members of The 3rd Market Harborough Mallard Beavers have been helping Market Harborough In Bloom (MHiB) volunteers by planting six hanging baskets, which will be put on the hanging basket tree on The Square.

They have also been making inserts of different material for the bug hotel that will be built near the pond area in Welland Park, which the Welland Rivers Trust has been clearing.

Margaret Richards, MHiB volunteers co-ordinator, said: “The Beavers had a lovely time learning about bugs and their habitat, and everyone will be able to admire the hanging baskets during the summer.”

Milly Pinnock, assistant Beaver Scout leader, said the Beavers enjoy getting involved in the community.

She added: “We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to work alongside both Market Harborough in Bloom and the Welland Rivers Trust.

“The children have taken great pride in the work.”

The Beavers are the youngest section of the Scouting movement and are aged from six to eight.

They meet on a Monday night at the Scout hut on Farndon Road and you can check out their webpage at http://www.harboroughscouts.org.uk/
