Market Harborough and Lutterworth Rugby Clubs are putting local rivalries to one side to help promote next year’s Rugby World Cup.
With ten months to go until the festival of rugby comes back to these shores, the excitement is already building within local grass roots rugby.
Leicester has been chosen as a host city and the Leicestershire Rugby Union and its rugby partners are already preparing for the occasion.
Market Harborough and Lutterworth Rugby Clubs are working together to make the World Cup a memorable one.
Both will be holding special events such as hosting rugby fun days and a “run with the ball” session.
Both clubs will also be participating in the exciting Festival of Rugby planned for Victoria Park in Leicester in August 2015.
This season will see many more opportuties as the tournament gets closer and the plans start to come to life.
Market Harborough Rugby Club president Mike King said: “We are supporting the World Cup with local events as it has given us a once in a lifetime opportunity to build an everlasting legacy for our sport.”
And Martyn Homes, who is president of Lutterworth Rugby Club said: “The next 10 months will see a surge of interest which will galvanise and motivate the game of rugby.
“Our club will do everything we can to make sure this happens.”
Both clubs are now looking forward to the enjoyment of having Rugby World Cup matches being held on their doorstep and the lasting legacy it brings for local sport.
