Hairdresser styles the Miss World champion

A Kibworth hairdresser and his team were on hand backstage at the Miss World 2014 finals to style the contestants, including this year’s winner, Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss.

Hairdresser Andrew Minarik, who used to run Minarik Hair and Beauty in Kibworth, is now a bridal hair and beauty specialist as well as being the UK education artist for the Sexy Hair brand.

Mr Minarik, who returned to Britain in 2012 after working for Sexy Hair in California and now lives in Kibworth, has been working on a number of projects recently including freelance consultancy work, the QVC shopping channel and the Miss England and Miss World organisations.

Last month Mr Minarik and his team were at the Miss World finals at the ExCel in London.

Using products from Sexy Hair, Mr Minarik helped create glossy styles for the contestants, with plenty of big, bouncy curls.

The event was presented by actor and TV personality Tim Vincent and Megan Young, the 2013 Miss World winner.

Mr Minarik said: “This year the Miss World final hit London, and it was great to be working backstage in my home country this time.

“It was wonderful to head up the hair and make-up team backstage once again.

“I always love creating the beautiful, glamorous looks at this event. Huge congratulations to Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss, and to all the other amazing finalists.”

During a packed three weeks in London, the contestants took part in Miss World challenge events.

These included fashion competitions, a talent contest, charitable work for the Beauty with a Purpose charity and a debate at the Oxford Union.

Mr Minarik appeared at the ExCel earlier in the year for the Salon International event, hosting with Miss England hopeful, Carina Tyrrell.
