A footballing academy based in Harborough has moved after outgrowing its former home.

The academy has links to Premier League club West Bromwich Albion.

A spokesman for FDS said: “If players develop well then there is a chance of them being offered a contract at a professional club. This summer was a massive success with many local boys being chosen to attend tournaments abroad to represent FDS. Four teams from under-nine to under-16 level were chosen to go to the Kokkola cup in Finland. All four teams were winners.

“FDS also travelled to Germany, Holland and Ireland and our young players were competing with clubs as big as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus.”

The development school holds training sessions at Harborough Town FC’s all-weather pitch on Monday evenings from 5.45 to 7pm. FDS says it has also recently welcomed four apprentice coaches who will learn coaching basics for a year with the potential for longer-term roles.
