Get set for Lutterworth Christmas lights fun

A fireworks display, funfair and a Christmas market are all part of the Christmas Lights Switch-On annual event in Lutterworth this year.

The event is taking place , from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, November 28.

The evening will include all the old favourites such as Santa’s grotto, the fun fair, mulled wine, a hog roast and lots of stage entertainment, hosted by BBC Radio Leicester.

The lights switch-on itself will be at 7.30pm, followed by the big fireworks display.

New for this year, will be a small Christmas market, selling a wide range of Christmas gifts and treats.

Many shops in the town will also be remaining open later for the night.

Lutterworth Town Council’s events officer Holly Guy said: “I’m Lutterworth born and bred and I’ve been coming to the lights switch-on since I was young.

“It’s always been a really good, enjoyable community event, and this year we’re expecting 1,500 people.”

The A426 in Lutterworth will be closed to through traffic from 5pm to 9pm. The road will be closed at the north of the town from the junction with Bill Crane Way and to the south from the junction with St John’s Business Park.

Local traffic will be diverted around the town centre, with no vehicular movement between the Wood Burner Workshop and Misterton Way.

Lutterworth Town Council would like to hear from you if you have local road knowledge and are able to volunteer as a marshal for the evening.
