The firm that puts up those wall-mounted Christmas trees around Market Harborough has reported a record year this year.

So far Alden Electrical, based in St Mary’s Road, has put 105 trees in position in the town.

“It’s a personal best for us” said Linda Alden. “And there are plenty of new Christmas tree customers this year, including Tesco, Enigma, Edward Hands and Lewis and Gallone’s.

“We would like to see the town lit up brighter this year than last year, adding sparkle to our cold winter days.”

Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce, led by Ian Joule, has been campaigning to increase the number of trees around the town.

The Chamber subsidises the trees, meaning companies pay just £50 for tree, lights, fixing and removal.

“It’s all looking very positive, and I’m sure the town is making lots of effort for the Friday lights switch-on,” said Linda.
