Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service says it will be taking on 25 new full-time firefighters.

A spokesman said: “We are launching our very own Aspirational To Inspirational recruitment campaign to increase the number of applicants from underrepresented groups in our communities, especially black and ethnic minorities and women. “If successful, this campaign will enable the Service to gain a workforce that better represents the local communities we serve.”

The application process will officially open on Monday, April 10, and close a week later.

Have-a-go taster days will be taking place over the next seven weeks to give people an insight into what the role of a firefighter entails as well as the required strength, fitness and aptitude levels. It will also give them the chance to find out more information on how rewarding a career in the fire and rescue service is and what paths of progression there are.

Dates and times of the taster days can be found online at www.leicestershire-fire.gov.uk/recruitment.
