Caring people are being invited to an event in Market Harborough this Monday where they can find out more about making a difference by becoming a personal assistant to older people.
It is one of four information events being organised by Leicestershire County Council and is taking place at Market Harborough Methodist Church, in Northampton Road, from 10am until 2pm.
The council’s cabinet member for adult social care Dave Houseman said: “A personal assistant is a carer who can carry out a range of tasks to support you to live the life you want.
“The help they offer ranges from cooking and cleaning to social activities, such as taking people to the cinema.
“I’d encourage people to find out more about this very rewarding role, which helps people to live independently, instead of having to go into residential care.”
