“Our environmental crime vehicle is also equipped with a camera and is continuing to patrol the district every day,” said a Harborough District Council spokesman.

The council tackled 96 reports of illegal tipping in April and May - slightly down on the same period in 2019.

Bags of clothes and hosiery material have been dumped in a country lane on the edge of Billesdon in the latest eco-outrage.

Cllr Phil King, who leads Harborough council, said: “We are stepping up our round-the-clock battle to tackle and defeat fly-tippers.

“Our covert cameras are watching them 24/7 and we will continue to do our utmost to catch them and make them pay.”
