Driver freed from car by firefighters after crash on the outskirts of Harborough

A driver was rushed to hospital after their car crashed just a few hundred yards off the busy A6 on the outskirts of Market Harborough on Saturday night (December 12).

The motorist had to be freed by firefighters in a “rapid extrication” operation following the accident on the B6047 near the McDonald’s roundabout.

Two fire crews from Market Harborough and Kibworth raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at 6.56pm, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said.

At least two police cars also attended the single-vehicle incident in pitch-black darkness.

The injured driver was taken by road ambulance to University Hospital Coventry.
