Driver cut free from car after their vehicle landed in ditch near Broughton Astley

An injured person was rushed to hospital after a car careered off the road and ploughed into a ditch near Broughton Astley last night (Monday).

The casualty was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious after they were cut free from the vehicle by firefighters.

Two other people in the car managed to climb out to safety themselves after the single-vehicle crash on Broughton Road, Leire, just after 9pm last night.

Police, firefighters and ambulances raced to the scene after the alarm was raised.

Fire crews using two appliances from Lutterworth, a fire engine from Hinckley and a specialist Technical Rescue team from Leicester’s Southern fire station attended the incident.

Firefighters removed a door at about 10pm to free the injured person trapped before they were taken to hospital.
