A woman has been charged with causing two deaths after a crash on the M1 just south of junction 20, near Lutterworth.
Leicestershire Police said Anastasia James, from Leicester, is charged with causing the deaths of Destiny James-Keeling and Megan Marchant by “careless driving while unfit through drugs”.
The accident was on the M1 northbound at Shawell in January last year.
Janine Smith, the CPS East Midlands deputy chief crown prosecutor, said: “The CPS has authorised Leicestershire Police to charge Anastasia James with two counts of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs.
“We have decided that a prosecution is in the public interest.”
James was charged on Saturday and is due at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 11.
