West Lodge Farm Park, in Desborough, has been nominated for a national award which recognises activities for youngsters across the UK.

The park is a finalist in the What’s On 4 Junior Awards’ best family day out category.

The farm park was opened in 1995 by farmer Ed Dee on an 800-acre working farm owned by his parents.

Still run by the Dee family, West Lodge gives children of all ages the opportunity to see and enjoy real farm animals and activities.

It’s open daily and there are a series of special events throughout the year.

Ryan Thompson, farm park manager at West Lodge said: “We are thrilled to be through to the finals of this awards scheme.

“We were nominated by one of our members, Leanne Houghton who visits the farm regularly with her children, Jake (6) and Maisie (4).

“We have great team of staff at the farm and this award is a reflection on them.”

The winners of the awards will be announced on June 19 at the official awards ceremony at Drayton Manor.

The nomination means West Lodge Farm Park is in the top few providers in the UK as voted for by parents. The awards are in their ninth year and celebrate the best activities, classes, volunteers and venues from throughout the UK.

Marilyn Bradshaw and Bev O’Sullivan from What’s On 4 UK, said: “Even after a huge awards programme last year, 2015 has seen our biggest and most exciting awards to date.

“We have we received a record number of votes and all of our finalists should be very proud to be held in such high esteem by the nation’s parents.

“We can’t wait to reveal the winners in June.”
