The carnival starts with the annual carnival quiz on Tuesday (June 21) at 8pm at the Indoor Bowls Club in Desborough.

Saturday (June 25) sees carnival day itself with the parade leaving Dunkirk Avenue at 2pm to work its way around the town.

Entry forms for the parade are available from the surgery, library, Heritage Centre and shops.

The field events at the Recreation Ground in Dunkirk Avenue start at 2pm.

Arena entertainment includes a marching band and dancers, with stalls, sideshows and a children’s fairground on the field as well as an area of craft stalls.

The main event in the arena this year is a bird of prey display, with these birds performing in the arena.

They will also be available on the field for people to see and talk to the handlers.

The carnival court has been chosen by Havelock School and was crowned at the Havelock School May fair.

This year’s queen is Ellie Foster with attendants Courtney Farey and Sophie Poole and page boy Josh Forgan.

Carnival chairman Michael Crick said: “The committee have once again worked hard to put together what we hope will be a good day for the town.

“We hope that we will be supported again as all the money raised goes to organisations in the town.

“We still require some help during the day and anyone willing to give an hour or two to help can contact the secretary Carol Johnson on 01536 506767.”
