A budding young dancer from Fleckney is trying to raise money so she can attend a prestigious dance school where she will study classical ballet.
Rosie Parlby (13) became interested in dancing at the age of three and since then her mum Anne says she has been absolutely dedicated, attending six classes a week.
Mum Anne added: “Rosie also attends associate classes with Graham Fletcher in Leicester and Ballet Theatre UK in Hinkley. In addition to this she attends Tring Classical Ballet Academy.”
Rosie and her family are now applying for a place at Tring Classical Ballet Acedemy, which would begin in September 2016.
However, the cost of full-time study at Tring is £10,000 per term, which mum Anne said is out of the family’s reach.
Anne added: “She is very motivated and helps pay some of her class fees by making and selling chocolate.”
Rosie has already appeared on-stage in a number of productions. Last year she was picked from among 250 auditionees to join the English Youth Ballet in three performances of The Nutcracker at the Theatre Royal, in Nottingham.
She aims to become a professional ballet dancer when she is older and although she learns different forms of dance, she favours ballet.
Mum Anne added: “I have recently set up a ‘GoFundMe’ account, which can be found at www.gofundme.com/3z3znycs where people can make donations if they would like to help.
“I would be so very grateful for any financial assistance people can offer. It is very easy and quick to donate using the link or if people prefer they can kindly send donations to our home address 14 Heycock Close, Fleckney, LE8 8UH.
“Any financial help, however small the amount, will be so much appreciated and will go towards Rosie’s sought-after future in dance.”
