A woman is set to appear in court accused of stealing over £184,000 from a leading medical practice in a Harborough village.

Kirsty Whawell, 40, has been charged with a string of serious offences of fraud at Kibworth Medical Centre, part of South Leicestershire Medical Group, based on Smeeton Road, Kibworth Beauchamp.

She’s been charged after an in-depth investigation into the allegations by Leicestershire Police’s specialist economic crime unit lasting almost two years.

Whawell, of Kimberley Street, Kibworth Beauchamp, has been charged with fraud by false representation and six counts of fraud by abuse of position, police said today.

She is now due to appear before Leicester magistrates’ court on Monday (March 1).

“The charges relate to fraud offences to the value of more than £184,000 between 2013 and 2019 at a medical practice in Kibworth,” said police.
