A police helicopter hovered over Market Harborough for almost an hour late on Wednesday night searching for a “high-risk” missing person.

The Leicestershire Police helicopter circled an area to the west of the town off Lubenham Hill just as hundreds of residents were going to bed.

The helicopter was drafted in after police were alerted at 10pm that a “high-risk man” had gone missing in Market Harborough.

The aircraft flew over local homes as well as open land and a building site in the pitch-black darkness looking for the man, who’s not been named.

“The chap was eventually found safe and well at about 11.20pm,” said a Leicestershire Police spokeswoman.
