The audience included villagers, farmers and local businesses to the north of Harborough district along the busy A47 corridor.

The get-together at the Coplow Centre was staged by Harborough Community Safety Partnership, run by the district council.

The agency works alongside partners such as the police to tackle vital local issues like countryside crime, flytipping, anti-social behaviour, protecting victims and slashing reoffending.

PC Steve Winn, of Harborough Police, spoke at the event along with a Crimestoppers representative and hi-tech anti-theft company Datatag.

PC Winn said: “It was an excellent night.

“It was great to see so many of our farming friends there from the Billesdon area.

“We had a lot of good input from the floor and there was fantastic enthusiasm.”

He added: “Both the police and the council are determined to work together to tackle and combat crime in our countryside.

“We’d urge anyone who’s been targeted or is experiencing problems to contact us straight away so that we can respond immediately.”
