Police stopped three men in a Harborough district village after they detected a “strong smell of cannabis” coming from their car.

All three were detained to be searched under the S23 Misuse of Drugs Act in Fleckney, near Kibworth, on Saturday night (November 21), police said.

One of the men was found to be in possession of cannabis and given a community resolution, which are handed out for “low level offences”.

Another man was also found to be in possession of cannabis as well as a knuckle duster, a potential weapon, and he will be prosecuted without being arrested.

The driver gave a positive test for a drug and was arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed limit.

He provided a sample while in custody, police said, and was released pending forensic results.
