Thieves who stole a car belonging to a firefighter and paramedic in Market Harborough are being hunted by police.

The shocked couple are said to be devastated after their vital Ford Kuga SUV was stolen outside their new home in Harvest Road.

The gang also stole the 999 workers’ presents for their daughter’s second birthday this weekend.

The white Ford Kuga was stolen from the family’s driveway on Ashton Rise estate at the top of Lubenham Hill, Market Harborough, at about 11pm on Monday night.

There was an ambulance service protective uniform, two pushchairs and children’s car seats in the vehicle’s boot.

The thieves also broke into a garage at the property to steal wrapped toys for the little girl’s birthday.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw anyone driving away from the area in a similar vehicle is asked to contact 101,” said a Leicestershire Police spokeswoman.
