Taxi driver robbed in Harborough

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Harborough which happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

At around 1.45am a taxi driver, the victim, picked up three people from an address in Millwood Close, Leicester.

As he pulled up near to the entrance of Symington’s Recreation Ground, in St Mary’s Road, Harborough, he was assaulted by the suspects and had cash stolen from him.

The first suspect is described as black dual heritage, around 20 years old and 5ft 9in tall. He had short dark hair and had a blemish on his right cheek near to his sideburn. He was wearing dark clothing and had a Manchester accent.

The second suspect is described as white, between 22 and 24 years old and around 5ft 9in tall. He had black hair and stubble and was wearing a light coloured hooded jacket. He spoke with a local accent.

The third suspect is described as a white woman, around 19 years old and about 5ft 6in tall. She was of stocky build and wearing a light coloured top.

DC Jessica Rippington, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim. I would ask anyone who was in either the Millwood Close or Symington Road areas and thinks they may have seen this group to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who believes they recognise the descriptions of the suspects to contact me as soon as possible.”
