Officers carried out the dramatic swoop on the bedsit on a busy town centre road with housing association officials.

The vulnerable tenant living at the property is feared to have been thrown out by the dangerous drugs gang in a classic ‘cuckooing’ action.

The combined police and housing team acted after receiving “intelligence around county lines”, Harborough police said on their Twitter feed.

Police put up a heavy metal door to stop the suspected crooks returning.

Police added on Facebook: “We attended a flat and removed those that should not have been there and ensured it was returned to the possession of the tenant (the big metal door is keeping the bad guys away for a bit whilst the occupant is away).

“We worked with the housing provider following county lines intelligence of a vulnerable person having lost their flat to persons.

“Today they were ejected and the flat secured.”

The police and housing association are now hoping to move the terrified tenant back in to their home.

Police are urging anyone who has any information about drug-dealing villains or anything else suspicious to alert them by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
