“A 26-year-old man sustained head injuries and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“It’s believed before the assault there was a disagreement outside a pub in the High Street around 11pm on Saturday (July 4) and an 18-year-old girl was pushed,” said Leicestershire Police.

Following the serious assault on the man a 21-year-old man from Market Harborough was arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

“Enquiries in to the circumstances surrounding the GBH are continuing and no arrests have been made in relation to the common assault on the 18-year-old girl,” said police.
