Police were told that a car had been stolen from business premises in Grenville Gardens, Market Harborough.

Minutes later the car, a black Vauxhall Astra, was spotted in Bath Street but the driver failed to stop for police when requested.

The stolen motor then crashed into a string of vehicles in a car park in nearby Northampton Road.

A man aged 32 from Kettering was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate a second man who may have been involved,” said Leicestershire Police.

“Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”

Sgt Tom Smith, of Harborough and Wigston Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA), said: “While we’ve arrested one man, enquiries to locate a second man are continuing.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw the Vauxhall Astra being driven in the early hours of this morning.”

He added: “I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle or who saw or heard anyone acting in a suspicious or unusual manner in Grenville Gardens.

“Any information that you have could help with our investigation.”
