Man arrested after a Mercedes smashed into a house in Desborough

A man has been arrested after a Mercedes C220 smashed into a house in Desborough in the early hours today (Wednesday).

Emergency services dashed to the scene after the silver car crashed into the home in Dunkirk Avenue at about 1.30am.

The property suffered structural damage but the shocked family living there were not thought to have been injured.

A 25-year-old man from Desborough was arrested for the following offences - dangerous driving, driving over the prescribed limit, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and breaching the Covid-19 lockdown rules.

The suspect is still in custody being questioned by police about the incident on Wednesday morning, Northamptonshire Police said.
