Man arrested after early-hours stabbing in Broughton Astley

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm after a reported stabbing in Broughton Astley in the early hours of January 1.

A member of the public called the police at 1.50am to report that a man had been stabbed.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Officers attended the scene, in Main Street, along with the ambulance service and a 47-year-old man was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment.

"He remains in hospital where his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

"A man, aged 31, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

"He remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.

"A scene preservation that was in place outside a premises to allow for an investigation of the scene has since been removed."
