Man accused of New Year's Day stabbing in Broughton Astley set to face trial

A man accused of stabbing a man in Broughton Astley on New Year’s Day is set to face trial at crown court.

James Green, 31, was arrested after a 47-year-old man was stabbed in the town in the early hours of last Wednesday.

Green, of no fixed address, has been charged with wounding/causing grievous bodily harm with intent following the attack.

He’s also been charged with possession of a bladed article following the incident on Main Street.

Green was taken before Leicester magistrates’ court on Monday (Jan 6).

A court spokeswoman said the alleged attacker will now appear at Leicester Crown Court on Monday February 10.

She said Green was remanded in custody.

The victim was rushed to hospital with a stab wound injury after being found slumped in the street.

He has since been released from hospital and allowed to return home.
