A HELICOPTER was scrambled last night after police received a report of a missing man in Harborough town centre.
It circled above the top end of Harborough’s High Street and was called off at 9pm after the man was found.
The helicopter’s twitter feed suggested the missing man was injured but the force’s press office said today (Wednesday) this was mistaken and that he was found ‘safe and well’.
Harborough FM reported this morning that a man was seen in the area with bandages.
A police van seen in High Street near to the HSBC bank was an unrelated incident, the police’s press office told the Mail’s deputy editor Alex Blackwell this morning.
Officers were seen talking to two men at about 8.30pm.
Coincidentally, a fire engine was also seen rushing through the town at the same time – it was attending some burnt toast at a Harborough residential home.
