Harborough man arrested following the mystery death of a man in Kibworth Harcourt

The 33-year-old Harborough man, who hasn’t been named, is being quizzed by detectives at a county police station today.

Police were called to a flat in Glebeland, Kibworth, at 7.31am yesterday morning after the alarm was raised.

They received a report of an injured man, aged in his 30s, in the garden of flats there.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are being carried out into the circumstances of how he sustained his injuries.”

Medics dashed to the spot but tragically battled in vain to save the seriously-injured man’s life.

“The ambulance service attended but unfortunately he died at the scene,” said the spokeswoman.

Police said the investigation is in its “early stages” as officers carry out extensive house-to-house enquiries in Kibworth.

“A 33-year-old man from Harborough has been arrested in connection with the death,” said the police spokeswoman.

“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”

The investigation into the man’s death is being led by Det Insp Simon Boden.

Det Insp Boden said: “We are working to establish exactly what has happened and the cause of the man’s death.”

The senior detective urged anyone who was in that part of Kibworth over the weekend or who knows anything to contact police immediately.

“We want to speak to anyone who was in the area of Glebeland on Saturday night and Sunday morning,” said Det Insp Boden.

“Were you inside the property or do you know someone who was?

“Have you heard people talking about what happened?

“We need to speak to you.

“If you have any information – no matter how small you think it is – then please contact us.”
