Intruders who started a fire at a popular entertainment complex in a village near Market Harborough are being hunted by police.

The offenders are believed to have started the fire in a metal container next to the Big Barn off Medbourne Road in Ashley at about 5.30am on Wednesday.

Flames caused widespread smoke damage throughout the complex.

The incident was tackled by three fire crews after the alarm was raised by a passer-by.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen anyone or a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area at about 5.30am today (July 8).

“Anyone with any information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 2000048610.”
