Burglar fled empty-handed after brave OAPs went to confront him in their Harborough house in the middle of the night

A late-night burglar who terrified an elderly couple after smashing his way into their house in Market Harborough is being hunted by police.

The pensioners were woken up when the raider kicked in the front door at their home in Coventry Road, Harborough.

The stunned couple bravely jumped out of bed and went to confront the lone intruder.

The husband and wife spotted the burglar running away down the street as he fled empty-handed.

The frightening incident happened at about 1.15am on Thursday May 7.

Officers are now studying street CCTV footage and have carried out door-to-door enquiries as they hunt the offender.
