A happy couple celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary with a party.

Don and Betty Jeffery of Church Langton were married at the Holy Trinity Church, Aldershot, on Saturday, April 2, 1949 at 3pm.

Mr Jeffery was in the Royal Engineers and his work led the couple to live in many places across the world, including in Germany and Penang, Malaysia, before eventually settling in Church Langton.

The couple celebrated the milestone by having a dinner with family and friends, some of whom they hadn’t seen in around 40 years.

Mrs Jeffery said: “It was a lovely way to celebrate our anniversary, and we even had a surprise visit from the Military Wives choir.

“When they sang I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.”

Mrs Jeffrey added that the couple have had a great life and the secret to their long-lasting marriage has been “patience” and a bit of “give and take.”

The couple had four children and now have seven grandchildren.

They are awaiting the arrival of their first great-grandchild this August.
